Alice Boyd

Alice Boyd GB

Alice Boyd is a singer-songwriter, sound artist and audio producer based in South London. Her music explores our interconnectedness with the natural world, intertwining folk-inspired harmonies, ambient electronics and field recordings. Since her time as Artist in Residence at the Eden Project, Alice and her band have performed in the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome, the Barbican’s Conservatory, Bristol Beacon, as well as botanical gardens, mountainsides, ancient woodlands and music venues across the UK. Described as a “perfectly judged tangle of synthetic and human voices, silences, field recordings, and unearthly gurgles” (The Sonification), Alice’s music invites us to ponder the intersection of human life and the landscapes we call home. Alice also enjoys creating sound worlds for audio projects. She presents a monthly episode of Ffern’s podcast ‘As the Season Turns’, has hosted episodes of BBC Countryfile Magazine’s ‘The Plodcast’ and gave a TEDx talk on listening as a tool for change. In her latest project, ‘Shifting Soundscapes’ for BBC Radio 4, Alice retraces the steps of legendary field recordist Martyn Stewart to document the changing sounds of our environments.
