BIRTHE

BIRTHE is a 22-year-old independent artist from Belgium who combines strings and wind instruments in a surprising way within Soul and R&B, with influences of Pop, Funk and Jazz. In her lyrics she sings about self-development and growing up without a manual. The singer has been obsessed with music from an early age and has performed on various stages since the age of 14, including Sint-Baafsplein at the Ghent Festivities. BIRTHE has only been releasing her own music since September last year, but you may already know her from various Belgian media such as AVS, HLN, Het Nieuwsblad, Luminous Dash, MENT TV, but also Radio 2, JOE FM and local radio stations. Last summer, among many other shows, she performed on the main stage of Rijvers Festival. With her music she wants to return to the essence of the 50s, 60s and 70s: instruments played live, with as little electronic sounds as possible. Hence the choice to incorporate strings and wind instruments in her music. The producer behind BIRTHE’s music is OSKI, with whom she’s currently working on her debut album, scheduled for early 2025. Her new single ‘What If’ is about the societal pressure to be successful in terms of career, relationships, self-care,... With this song she wants to emphasize that success is something individual and that we need to create our own life, seperated from societal stereotypes.
