Blue adjective /blo͞o/ - (Of a person or mood) melancholy, sad, or depressed. The colour of both the ocean and the sky and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Cocoon verb /kəˈko͞on/ - envelop or surround in a protective or comforting way. Heartbroken and sick, Sharim—a singer/songwriter/guitarist formed bloococoon in December 2021. They recorded and released the single “Blossom Like a Rose'' in September 2022 and have since played with The Veldt (NC), Erik Blood (SEA/LA), Sun Atoms (PDX), and LA band Tremours. They've also performed at FreakOut! Fest (2022) and the Tremolo Shoegaze Festival in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, the band recorded their forthcoming debut full-length record. bloococoon's sound is languid, rich, guitar-heavy, and textural, with elements of shoegaze, trip-hop, and '90s alternative rock. Featured on the record is guitarist J. Weichman, bassist Jasun Hadaway, and drummer Andrea Volpato. Through steady gigging, well-received live shows, and warm reception of the single, “Blossom Like A Rose,” bloococoon has been able to generate a buzz within the Seattle music community. Shoegaze has been gaining in popularity over the last few years, and the genre veterans in bloococoon are well-placed to show the world how it's really done—with extraordinary skill, heart, and soul.
