Orchestra Mambo International

Orchestra Mambo International is a 12 piece UK ensemble led by salsa DJ Lubi Jovanovic (DJ Lubi), and salsa/Latin jazz trombonist Jonny Enright (Grupo X). They play classic salsa and mambo inspired by Latin music legends Tito Puente, Machito, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto and the Fania All Stars. They feature musicians from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Spain and the UK who are based in the north of England and have played with salsa, jazz, funk and soul artists such as Joe Bataan, Tito Allen, The New Mastersounds, Oscar D’Leon, Matthew Halsall, Snowboy & The Latin Section, Bobby Matos, Larry Harlow and The Haggis Horns. Formed in 2022, they gig regularly across the UK performing music from the Fania Records catalogue as well as their much loved “Mambo King: A Musical Tribute To Tito Puente” set. In 2024, band leader Jonny Enright collaborated with vocalist Carlos "Pachanga" Pena to produce a couple of original compositions into the set, and two of these feature on their debut single for Leeds/UK analogue music label ATA Records. “Mambo Te Llama/Del Callejón” is released on vinyl 45 and digital formats on 3rd May 2024 with their debut album to follow for the label later in the year.
