The Girobabies
Hip Hop / Scottish Hip Hop
Glasgow-based gutter-rock and underground noise makers and thing sayers . Once called 'Baffling Ned Punk' by the Evening Times early in their career which sounded a bit classist but there hasn't been any better descriptions since. Or reviews. You don't find much mention of Girobabies in the media at all really. Apart from Goals of the week on Soccer AM once and a few plays on 6 Music. The festival scene is the natural habitat. Born out of free parties where they were the only non-techno band to be allowed to play. Songs about nothing and songs about everything. They have played a sold out Glasgow Barrowlands twice.
'The Girobabies tell it like it is, like it was and, most importantly, like it's going to be! Long live The Girobabies!!!'
– Paul Heaton
'The Girobabies are the greatest rock 'n ' roll band in Glasgow'
Reverend D Wayne Love (Alabama 3)
'They just totally blow me away. Great, very focused lyrics and delivery smashing a path through a band who manage to sound tight and loose like all the best bands do. Best of all though the Girobabies mean something and stand for something. They are not just popping their heads above the castle wall they are standing on it with a mega phone screaming "C'mon ya bas". A rare band who owe nothing to anybody`
– Steve Mason (The Beta Band)
''The Girobabies are a band steeped in the nightlife and sub-culture of Glasgow and some of the material is akin to eavesdropping on a late-night pub conversation'
9/10 Louder Than War
